His journey in the beer world starts during university education: for his degree in Food Science and Technology, he attends a course by Stefano Buiatti on Beer Technology. He then starts brewing at home and reading brewing manuals, still being keen on these activities today.
In the following years, he obtains his College and Master’s degrees in Food Science and Technology, graduating with a dissertation in Beer Technology about the use of alternative ingredients and their effect on the antioxidant capacity of beer.
He is then enrolled as a research trainee by the University of Udine and releases two papers. At the same time, he starts working in commercial brewing, first as an intern at Campestre brewery, then as assistant brewer at Forum Iulii brewery, where after a few months he becomes brewer. This enables him to get all-round understanding of beer production, working with a two-vessel brewing system of 10 hl and an overall fermentation capacity of 60 hl.
In 2020 he joins Mr. Malt®, where he can give full expression to both his theoretical and practical knowledge, in the role of Technical Consultant.
In 2022 he succeeds in Module 1 of the Diploma in Brewing by the Institute of Brewing and Distilling of London.
Unique skills: Yeast blender, brewer of English beer styles and bottom-fermented beers, Custodian of Theoretical Knowledge.
His passion for beer springs at a summer beer fest in Austria, where he discovers “unfiltered” beer. He then gets to know the various beers styles and finds out about homebrewing, starting to read and collect books on brewing techniques and ingredients as he still does today.
After building his first fermentation chamber, in January he brews his first and last beer from hopped malt extracts. Subsequently he buys the all-in-one set up he is still using today, after several upgrades. He joins the local homebrewer association as an active member and then as part of the board. In the following years, he enters the training team of the association, holding workshops on tasting, ingredients and brewing techniques. In the meantime, he keeps studying and qualifies as a Unionbirrai Beer Taster.
In 2019 he leaves his job as a computer technician to join Mr. Malt®. In his role of Technical & Sales Back Office he keeps cultivating his passion for craft beer.
In 2022 he succeeds in Module 1 of the Diploma in Brewing by the Institute of Brewing and Distilling of London.
Unique skills:Tireless hop taster, wild blender, data maniac.
